Uyi Akpata is the immediate past Country Senior Partner for PwC Nigeria and Regional Senior Partner for PwC West Africa (July 2014 to June 2023). Over the past two decades, he has significantly enhanced accounting standards and practice in Nigeria, contributed to the Nigerian economy as an advisor, impacted government policy, and supported community development initiatives.
A 1984 Accounting graduate from the University of Lagos and a Fellow of ICAN (since 1986), Uyi joined Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC Nigeria) in 1984 and became a Partner in 1992. During his 32 years as Partner, he led Assurance Engagements for oil majors and advised independents on governance, strategy, and sustainability. More recently, he has focused on business advisory services for the public sector and C-suite engagement on industry matters, supporting sustainable policy development and good governance.
Uyi held leadership positions within PwC Nigeria and Africa, including Chairman of the Governance Board for Africa Central Firms (2008-2012) and Head of Oil & Gas for Africa (2012-2015). He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Management Science by Wellspring University in 2019 and is a Professor of Practice at Miva Open University.
In July 2024, Uyi established Rusa Advisory, focusing on Governance, Sustainability, and Risk Advisory. He also mentors young entrepreneurs.
